2010 Doula Training Workshops

Who is your Doula Trainer?
Your doula trainer is Connie Livingston.  She is a nurse with over 30 years of experience in the maternity field.  Connie has also been a certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator for 30 years and a doula trainer for 12 years.  She began doula work when teaching childbirth classes near an Air Force Base in California.  Many of the husbands/partners were not available when the mothers went into labor, so she was asked to go and attend the births as the mothers' birth partners.

Why take this training?
As a veteran doula and trainer, Connie gives you the real tricks of the trade and an insider's look at doula work today.  Additionally, as a childbirth educator and published author, she has the experience to help you begin your journey as a birth doula AND expand your practice in the future.  She remains a resource for you.  A resource you can look to for education as well as caring and compassion.

The Training Workshop uses lecture, group work, birth videos, and a variety of teaching tools to help you build the knowledge and skills you will need.

About Registering for our DONA Doula Training Workshop:

• Registration includes: two-day comprehensive workshop, doula training handbook, and snacks and refreshments at breaks.  You will need to order your Certification Packet from DONA International prior to your first birth for certification.  It is not necessary to have the Packet at the time of the training, however portions of the Packet will be discussed and many attendees find it helpful to have the packet to refer to.

• Participants will receive 16 contact hours by the Ohio Nurses Association at the end of the two day workshop.

• Please also download the Preworkshop Study Guide and complete that before coming to the workshop!  To assist in your work on the Study Guide, you may want to consult Cliff Notes online. Enter "Pelvic Girdle" in the search box.  You may also find the "Endrocrine System" (hormones), and "Reproductive System" (female) useful.

• You may register online!  Click here to register now.  Registration closes 10 days in advance. If for any reason you need to cancel your registration, the following rules apply. Cancellations made 10 days or more in advance of the training will be assessed a $50.00 cancellation fee. Any cancellations received after that date will not be refunded, however an alternate may attend in your place or you may chose another doula training offered by Perinatal Education Associates.

Trainings scheduled for outside of Dayton Ohio must have 8 registrant for the training to be held.  The Trainer has the option of cancelling the training for less than 8 registrations. Registrants will then be given the option for a full refund OR rescheduling with Perinatal Education Associates for a future Doula Training Workshop.
