Meet the Prez...
Connie Livingston BS, RN, LCCE, FACCE, ICCE
Connie has been a registered nurse for 36 years and a Lamaze International certified childbirth educator for 31 years. She has worked with expectant families in a variety of settings in many parts of the US. Connie is charter Fellow of the American College of Childbirth Educators. And she has completed a certificate in aromatherapy.
One of the expectant parents in her childbirth education class once called her the "Labor Whisperer" and she has since trademarked that name!
Connie is a DONA certified doula and, as perinatal education coordinator, created the first hospital based doula program at a hospital in Dayton Ohio - one of the first 10 in the United States. She has served as a DONA approved doula trainer and has previously served on the Boards of ASPO/Lamaze, ICEA, DONA (past editor of the International Doula), and CAPPA (past Co-Director of Childbirth Education). The Ohio House of Representatives has honored her for her contributions to Maternity Care; she was selected as Purdue University's outstanding nursing alumna in 1996.
The author of over 1200 articles and three books for both parents and professionals, she is a frequent conference speaker, and consultant to childbirth education and hospital-based doula programs. She has recently consulted for iVillage and Parent's Magazine

During 2012, she was asked to join the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC) and served as a Member at Large. In late 2012, she was asked to once again join the ICEA Board of Directors, as President-Elect.
Connie and her "Hubster" have two amazing daughters and a wonderful son-in-law!

Donna Walls RN, BSN, CCE, IBCLC, Master Herbalist and Aromatherapist
Donna has been an RN for 32 years and for 30 years, has worked with expectant and new parents. She is a certified childbirth educator, Lactation Consultant, and has a Diploma in Herbal Sciences from Australasian College. In 1995, she developed and opened the first Alternative Birth Center within a hospital setting in the state of Ohio. An entrepreneur, she is the owner of Herbal Harmonies and MotherEarth Sundries in Dayton, Ohio. Donna created the Early Lactation Care Specialist program because of her passion for babies, mothers and lactation. She is an internationally known author and speaker, presenting workshops, programs and speaking at conferences. Donna teaches our Early Lactation Care Specialist Workshop and is an active member of the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. She is a Director-at-Large for the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).
Anne Brower RN, ICCE, IBCLC
Anne has been a Registered Nurse for 23 ˝ years in Maternal Child Health at Miami Valley Hospital. She has worked as a post partum and OB/GYN Clinic Nurse, Childbirth Educator and Lactation Consultant. She is a certified Childbirth Educator, doula, Lactation Consultant and aroma therapist. Anne has developed and presented lectures on coping with labor, breastfeeding and doula care as well as classes on environmental health including “Green Parenting at Miami Valley Hospital. She also co-instructs “Healthy Girls Go Green” a regional seminar for Perinatal Consortium for Educational Opportunities for RN’s. Anne also was instrumental in developing Miami Valley Hospital’s first Berry Women’s Green Team and was influential in helping the organization be the first in the region in providing maternity patients with healthier baby care products. Anne also is part of the “Re-igniting the Spirit of Caring” team and helps to facilitate this 3 day long program. Currently, Anne is the Coordinator of the Birth and Family Education/Lactation Program at Miami Valley Hospital. Anne is also an instructor in our Early Lactation Care Specialist Workshops.
Connie Gallagher LCCE, CD(DONA), Birthsource Lamaze Childbirth Educator Trainer
Originally from Alaska, Connie now lives in Fort Wayne,Indiana with her husband, four daughters, and a beagle named Walter. Connie
has been a DONA certified birth doula for over eight years, and a Lamaze
Certified Childbirth Educator for over four years. Connie served two years as
the Director of The Doula Network of Fort Wayne, and was instrumental in
starting a local chapter of ICAN. Connie currently stays busy attending births
and teaching private childbirth classes, and is very excited to be adding
Birthsource Lamaze Trainer to her schedule. When it comes time to relax she
enjoys reading, cooking, baking, and running
Tyler Breunig, BA Childbirth Educator
Breunig is working toward her Childbirth Educator's Certification through ICEA.
Tyler has a passion for educating women about childbirth and empowering them in
their pregnancy, labor and childbirth. Her passion was ignited during her own
childbirth classes before the birth of her daughter. She believes that every
woman has the right to childbirth education and simply loves talking about
birth. Tyler lives in Kettering, OH with her husband and two children, both of
whom were born in the water at Family Beginnings Birth Center at Miami Valley Hospital.
Jamilla R. Walker, RN, BA, ECLS
Jamilla is a research assistant for Perinatal Education Associates, Inc. She is also a nurse, birth doula, lactation & childbirth educator. She is pursuing a career as a midwife and lactation consultant and is both a chapter leader and board member of Dar a Luz, International. She lives in High Point, North Carolina with her husband and handsome young son. She enjoys reading, cooking, writing, teaching childbirth education and exploring North Carolina.
Jennifer Ellis, ICCE & Birth Doula
Also one of our research assistants, Jennifer provides both group and private childbirth education classes and is a birth doula, providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support during labor. She also teaches basic infant care and provides breastfeeding support. Jennifer has a heart for teens, particularly teen mothers and works as an instructional aide in a middle school. In 2009, Jennifer had an article published in the International Doula about her experience acting as a doula at a clinic in the bush in Africa. She believes all women deserve to have the education and support they need during their pregnancy and birth and considers it a blessing to provide these services. Jennifer lives in Dayton with her husband and four children.
